21-year-old Marjie Bemis was born and raised in Corona, California. She is currently enrolled in Milligan University’s Nursing program in east Tennesse, with the hopes of becoming an ER or trauma nurse after she graduates in 2023. Marjie has raced road mountain bikes, cyclocross, and track on the Milligan cycling team.
Marjie grew up riding horses and ran track and cross country in high school. She started mountain biking at age 12 with her dad and older sister. It soon became a huge part of her family’s life and she took a step back from horses and running in order to only focus on mountain biking her junior year of high school. Marjie won SoCal NICA Varsity championships and placed 3rd at state championships her senior year two weeks after having collarbone surgery. Quickly after, she won Cat 1 XC Nationals in Winter Park, Colorado.
Once Marjie arrived at college, she began focusing on road racing. Ever since then, she hasn’t been able to stop. Marjie rode her way to 2nd place in U23 Pro Nationals in the road race. Over this past year, Marjie tried gravel and crit racing for the first time. She was able to podium in every gravel race she entered, including Rule of 3 and BWR in Asheville. She is excited to do even more gravel this year and continue learning the art of crit racing!
In her free time, Marjie loves to go to the beach, watch movies, go on coffee shop rides, spend time with her friends, family, and dog, and shop!
